As a fine art history museum, MMoFA celebrates artists whose legacies enthrall and mystify art historians to this day. Equally important, we assist contemporary artists find personal refreshment and advance their professional development.
For visual artists, programs such as MMoFA's Making Masters and temporary exhibits expose select artists to art enthusiasts from around the world and offer others the opportunity to learn from talented living artists. MMoFA also provides art lectures and sketching opportunities inside the Museum and plein-aire.
For musical artists, MMoFA offers an exceptional setting to draw inspiration and perform for others. Whether it is a quiet afternoon classical guitar, jazz at a gala opening, or dance band at special events like weddings, MMoFA celebrates the connection between visual art and music. For us, music and color are frequencies on the same continuum of energy. We teach that a color palette communicates frequencies the human ear can not hear and music communicates frequencies the human eye can not see.
For literary artists, MMoFA offers a rich setting to explore and enjoy the many connections between visual art masters and literature. Whether it is the surreal poetry of Modern art masters Jean Hans Arp, Salvador Dali's autobiography, or authors who have immortalized artists in their writings, MMoFA continually demonstrates the connection between fine art and fine literature.
For performing artists, MMoFA offers a delightful setting for intimate works. Wether it is MMoFA's annual Vincent Van Gogh readings of his letters to his brother Theo, magic trick and juggling at the Museum's annula Medeivla Support feat, MMOFA has opportunties for you to shine.
