MMoFA is hatching new exhibitions, educational programs, and fundraisers. Thanks to Chris and Kathy Manners, this endearing terracotta sculpture by American sculptor William Mozart McVey (1905-1995) adds imagination and whimsey to the Museum's growing collection. McVey's works are held in numerous private collections, public institutions, and museums. This sculpture is registered in the Smithsonian National Art Inventory.
MMoFA recalls the life of impresario Roman Terleckyj (1955-2009) through the gift of a large oil painting created by French artist Andre Minaux (1923-1986) that formed part of Roman's art collection. Gifted by his companion Gregory Barnard, the painting features the flat color fields and interior motifs for which the artist is famous. Other works by Minaux are held in the collections of the Tate Gallery in London and the Pompidou in Paris.
Born in El Paso, Texas, Robert Sanabria became a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army, book author, and sculptor with works on display in numerous museums and public spaces. This abstract cast paper relief sculpture adds color, dimension, and texture to the the Museum collection. It celebrates the artistic gifts than many military personnel possess. MMoFA is a Blue Star Museum that offers free admission to US military families throughout the year. This gift from Gregory Barnard in memory of Roman Terleckyj is registered in the Smithsonian National Art Inventory.
